Double Deep Pallet Racking
A middle path between selective access and drive-in density, worked with a double reach truck.
How double deep racking works
Double deep racking places two selective bays back to back and serves both from one aisle. A double reach truck extends past the front pallet to place or retrieve the one behind it. Removing every second aisle converts that floor into pallet positions.
Access is direct to the front pallet and indirect to the rear, so the system suits operations that hold at least two pallets of each line. Where you hold single pallets of many lines, selective racking will move stock faster.
What the layout needs
- A double reach truck with the mast and reach travel to service the rear position.
- Frame ties set at the correct spacing between back to back frames.
- Deeper beam levels and, in most cases, pallet supports front to back.
- A slab flat enough to keep the mast within tolerance at full lift height.

Send us your floor plan. We will send back a layout.
Tell us the footprint, the pallet type and the forklift you run. Our design team returns a racking layout with bay configuration and a costed option, usually within two business days.
